Start by measuring the full width of the doorway and allow a little extra so your door bar can be trimmed to a precise fit. For wide openings or larger spaces, look for extra-long threshold strip options to ensure complete and tidy coverage.

Next, consider how much of each flooring surface the bar needs to overlap. When joining carpet to a hard floor, a slightly wider profile often provides better protection for the carpet edge and a cleaner visual line. It’s also important to check for any height difference between the two surfaces. If they’re uneven, choose a ramp door threshold profile or use Easyshim to bridge varying floor levels so the transition remains smooth, safe, and level.

If the bar will sit beneath a door, double-check you have enough clearance for the threshold height to avoid catching during opening and closing.
