The Premier Z9 door threshold is designed to form a secure and tidy join between carpet and hard flooring, including ceramic tiles, wood, laminate, stone, and rubber. Known as a ‘Z bar’ due to its profile shape, it holds the carpet firmly in place while allowing the hard floor to sit neatly alongside.
Suitable for carpets approximately 9–12mm thick, the carpet is secured onto integrated pins, with thicker carpets requiring additional compression for a tighter fit.
For the best results, both floor surfaces should be level. If the hard flooring sits slightly higher than the carpet, 3mm MDF strips can be positioned beneath the threshold to raise it. This ensures the visible bar sits neatly over the edge of the hard floor, while the pins align correctly with the carpet to hold it under tension.
Once installed, the carpet can be ‘napped down’ using a carpeted wood block, which improves grip and can slightly reduce the height.
Manufactured from solid brass with rounded edges and finished in satin nickel, this door threshold offers long-lasting performance with a subtle, contemporary finish.
Important: Floors should be level to ensure proper installation. MDF strips can be used to make minor height adjustments. Your carpet may need to be compressed onto the pins depending on thickness.

Measure the width of the doorway or the area where the carpet meets the hard flooring. Choose a slightly longer length so the threshold can be cut down for an accurate fit.
The Z9 profile is intended for carpets within the 9–12mm thickness range. Ensure both floor surfaces are level before fitting. If there is a slight height difference, MDF strips can be used to raise the threshold accordingly.
If the carpet sits lower than the adjoining floor, Easyshims can be used to create a gradual incline.
Fitting a Premier Z9 door threshold can be completed using standard tools:

The visible bar or top is 30mm (just over 1") wide and approximately 4mm thick.
Start by checking how the existing threshold has been fixed.
If screws have been used, remove them with the appropriate screwdriver. If nailed, gently lift the trim using a claw hammer or pry bar.
Release the carpet from the pins before removing the threshold, taking care not to damage the surrounding flooring.
Clear away any remaining fixings before installing the new trim.
