How Does the Premier Slim Z Door Threshold Work?
This threshold is engineered specifically for joining carpet to fixed hard flooring such as wood, stone or tile.
It features:

- A concealed base section on one side that grips and secures the carpet
- A vertical element designed to be gently pressed into the carpet pile during installation
Once fitted, the bar sits neatly into the carpet rather than on top, creating a flatter, more integrated finish that’s both subtle and secure.
Correct Use & Floor Height Requirements
The Premier Slim Z Satin Brass is designed for where carpet meets a hard floor, such as wood, stone or tiles.
To ensure proper installation, the following conditions must be met:
- Both floors should be level with each other
- The hard flooring must be securely fixed in place
- The hard floor should have minimal or no expansion movement
The bar sits flat on the sub-floor and fits neatly over the hard flooring. If the hard floor is slightly higher, you can use the supplied 3mm MDF strips to raise the bar. For larger height differences, Easyshims can be used to create a smooth, level transition.
Note: If your hard floor requires expansion space, consider using a standard Z bar instead.

Installation & Fitting Tips
The Premier Slim Z in Satin Brass is suitable for DIY installation. With care and precision, you can easily achieve a clean, professional result.
Key fitting guidance:
- Use only where the hard floor is fixed and does not expand
- Cut the bar to length before fixing it in place
- If height adjustment is needed, place the supplied MDF strips at the fixing points
- Secure the MDF strips to the sub-floor with nails or screws
Once the carpet and underlay are in place:
- Position a carpet-wrapped wooden block on top of the bar
- Gently tap with a hammer to depress the bar by approx. 3mm
This “nap-down” step helps the pins grip the carpet securely and creates a lower, more integrated profile.
