The Premier Z9 door threshold is designed to form a secure and tidy connection between carpet and hard floor surfaces, including ceramic tiles, wood, laminate, stone, and rubber. Commonly referred to as a ‘Z bar’ due to its distinctive shape, it holds the carpet firmly in place while allowing the hard flooring to sit neatly alongside.
Suitable for carpets approximately 9–12mm thick, the carpet is secured onto integrated pins, with thicker carpets requiring compression for a tighter fit.
For correct installation, both floor surfaces should be level so the threshold can sit flat. If the hard flooring is slightly higher than the carpet, 3mm MDF strips can be placed beneath the trim to raise it. This ensures the visible bar sits neatly over the edge of the hard floor while the pins align with the carpet to hold it under tension.
Once installed, the carpet can be ‘napped down’ using a carpeted wood block, improving the grip and slightly reducing the overall height.
Manufactured from solid brass with rounded edges and finished in antique bronze, this door threshold combines strength with a darker, more traditional finish.
Important: MDF strips can be used where slight height differences occur, but both floors should be level to achieve a proper finish. Your carpet may need to be compressed onto the pins depending on its thickness.
Not suitable for:
Measure the width of the doorway or the point where the carpet meets the hard floor. Select a slightly longer length so the threshold can be trimmed to achieve a precise fit.
The Z9 profile is designed for carpets within the 9–12mm range. Ensure both floor surfaces are level before installation. If the hard floor is slightly higher, use MDF strips to raise the threshold so it sits correctly.
If the carpet sits lower than the adjoining floor, Easyshims can be used to lift it and create a more gradual transition.

The visible bar or top is 30mm (just over 1") wide and approximately 4mm thick.
Start by checking how the current threshold has been secured in place.
If it has been fixed with screws, carefully remove them using the appropriate screwdriver. If it has been nailed down, gently lift the trim using a claw hammer or pry bar.
Before fully removing the threshold, release the carpet edge from the pins, taking care not to damage the surrounding flooring.
Once removed, clear away any remaining fixings or debris before installing the new threshold.
This product is made from solid brass and hand-finished, so slight variations may occur. As it is unlacquered, the finish may naturally age over time depending on its environment.
