How to Choose the Right Size Door Threshold 

To ensure you choose the correct size door threshold, begin by taking an accurate measurement of the doorway opening. It’s best to allow a little extra so the door bar can be trimmed neatly to fit, avoiding any visible gaps. For wider openings or larger rooms, opting for an extra-long threshold strip will give you the coverage you need.

When selecting the width of the door bar itself, think about how much of each flooring surface it needs to overlap. Wider profiles are useful when joining different materials or when a more substantial cover is required. You should also check the height of the two floor levels; if one side is higher than the other, choose a threshold designed to compensate for the difference to keep the transition safe, level, and seamless. 

If the threshold will sit directly underneath a door, double-check that there is enough clearance beneath the door to accommodate the height of the door bar. This ensures smooth opening and closing once fitted.
