Premier Slim D in Satin Brass: 16 mm width, range of lengths. Sleek double Z door threshold strip in brushed satin brass.

Fastest Available Option*

Premier Slim D Satin Brass door threshold strips offer a refined and understated solution for joining carpets seamlessly. With a slim 16mm profile and soft satin brass finish, this door bar creates a warm, elegant transition that enhances both classic and contemporary interiors.

Description

The Premier Slim D door threshold is an ultra-narrow double Z bar designed specifically for carpet-to-carpet joins. Its discreet 16mm width makes it ideal for achieving a clean, minimalist finish where a wider door threshold strip would be too prominent.

The satin brass finish delivers a softer, brushed appearance compared to polished metals, adding warmth and subtle sophistication to your space. This makes it particularly well-suited to interiors that favour muted tones and timeless design details.

Unlike standard double Z door bars, this Slim D version does not include a base plate. Carpets must therefore be secured using gripper rods beneath, allowing the door strip to sit neatly and unobtrusively across the join.

Key Features

  • Ultra-slim 16mm wide door threshold strip for discreet carpet joins
  • Designed specifically for carpet-to-carpet applications
  • Double Z (naplock-style) door bar for a seamless finish
  • Satin brass finish for a soft, warm, and elegant look
  • Made from high-quality solid brass for durability and strength
  • Unlacquered finish allows the metal to naturally age over time
  • Suitable for carpets up to approximately 12mm thick (compressing to around 9mm)
  • Low-profile design helps minimise visible joins and trip hazards
  • Ideal for creating a subtle, high-end finish

Sizing Specifications

  • Width: 16mm
  • Approximate thickness: 4mm
  • Available in 4 lengths: 900mm, 1000mm, 1800mm and 2700mm
  • Can be cut to size using a fine-toothed hacksaw

Important:
This door threshold strip does not include a base plate. Carpets must be secured using standard gripper rods prior to installation.

Both subfloors must be level, as this door bar is designed to sit flat across the join.

    Flooring Compatibility

Premier Slim D door thresholds are compatible with:

    • Carpet to carpet joins

    Not suitable for:

    • Hard flooring (wood, tile, laminate, vinyl)
    • Carpet to hard floor transitions

How to Choose the Right Size Door Threshold

Measure the width of your doorway or the area where the carpet join will sit, allowing a small amount of extra length so the door threshold strip can be trimmed to fit perfectly.

The slim 16mm width is ideal where a subtle finish is preferred. Ensure your carpets are within the recommended thickness range and that both floor levels are even to achieve the best result.

How to Install a Door Threshold Step-by-Step

Installing a Slim D door threshold strip is a simple DIY project:

    1. Install carpet gripper rods on both sides of the join to hold the carpets securely.
    2. Measure the doorway and cut the door bar to size using a hacksaw.
    3. Position the threshold strip centrally over the join.
    4. Tuck the carpet edges neatly into the profile on each side.
    5. Use a carpeted wood block to gently ‘nap down’ the threshold into place.
    6. Ensure the door strip sits flush and secure along its full length.

How to Remove an Existing Door Threshold

To remove an existing door threshold, start by identifying how it has been fixed in place. Most door thresholds are secured using either screws, nails, or adhesive.

If the threshold is fixed with screws, use the correct screwdriver to carefully remove them. If the screws are difficult to turn or stuck in place, gently tap the screw heads with a hammer to help loosen them before attempting to unscrew again.

For thresholds secured with nails, use a claw hammer or pry bar to carefully lift and remove them. Work slowly and evenly along the length of the door bar to avoid damaging the surrounding flooring.

If the door threshold strip has been fitted into carpet (as with double Z bars), gently lift and release the carpet edges first before removing the bar. Take care not to damage the carpet fibres or underlay.

Clear away any remaining fixings or debris before installing your new door threshold strip.

    Cleaning & Maintenance

    • Vacuum regularly to prevent dirt build-up around the door strip
    • Clean with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth
    • Dry thoroughly after cleaning
    • Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals
    • Use a suitable metal polish if you wish to maintain the original finish

As this door threshold is unlacquered, the satin brass finish will naturally develop a patina over time, enhancing its character.
