The Premier Z13 door threshold is designed to create a secure and tidy join between thick carpet and hard floor surfaces such as tiles, stone, wood, or thick LVT. Suitable for carpets up to approximately 13mm thick when compressed, it offers a reliable solution for achieving a professional finish across doorways and between rooms.
For carpets of standard thickness (around 8–10mm), the Premier Z9 is generally more appropriate.
For correct installation, both base floors should be level. If there is a slight difference in height, 3mm MDF strips are supplied and can be placed beneath the threshold to raise it slightly, allowing it to sit properly over the edge of the hard flooring.
If required, the carpet can be raised to meet the base pins using Easyshims. Once installed, the threshold can be ‘napped down’ using a carpeted wood block to improve grip and slightly reduce the overall height.
Manufactured from solid brass with rounded edges and finished in satin nickel, this door threshold offers durability along with a clean, modern appearance.
Important: Subfloors should be level for the best results. MDF strips are included to help adjust height if needed. For carpets 8-10mm thick, consider using Premier Z9 instead.

Measure the width of your doorway or transition point and select a length slightly longer than required so it can be trimmed for an accurate fit.
This Z13 profile is designed for thicker carpets. If your carpet is thinner, a Z9 threshold may be more suitable.
Make sure the base floors are level before installation. If the hard flooring is slightly higher, use the included MDF strips to raise the threshold. If the carpet needs to be lifted, Easyshims can be used to create a gradual incline.
Installing a Premier Z13 door threshold can be completed using standard tools:
For more detailed guidance, see our comprehensive guide on how to install a door threshold and our tips on how to cut a door threshold to size.
Check how the existing threshold has been fixed.
If screws are present, remove them carefully with the correct screwdriver. If nailed, gently lift the threshold using a claw hammer or pry bar.
Release the carpet from the pins before removing the trim, taking care not to damage the surrounding flooring.
Clear away any remaining fixings before installing the new threshold.
This product is made from solid brass and hand-finished, so slight variations may occur. As it is unlacquered, the finish may naturally age over time depending on its environment.
