Premier Single 4 in Polished Brass - narrow brass door threshold strip for thin carpet to hard floor joins. Polished finish and available in a range of lengths.

Fastest Available Option*

The Premier Single 4 Polished Brass door threshold provides a neat and secure way to join thin stick-down carpets and natural sisal flooring to floorboards and thin vinyl flooring. Manufactured from solid brass with a polished brass finish, it features a smooth curved profile that creates a tidy transition between floor coverings.

Description

The Premier Single 4 Polished Brass door threshold is designed to join thin stick-down carpets and natural sisal, up to 4mm thick, with floorboards and thin vinyl flooring. Its curved profile creates a smooth transition between floor coverings while helping to avoid a trip hazard.

Designed for use where both floor coverings are level, the threshold lies flat once installed. The carpet is held securely under tension by the integrated teeth, while the adjoining floor covering sits beneath the curved edge. This helps prevent exposed carpet edges and avoids the carpet becoming rucked up after fitting.

Manufactured from solid brass with rounded edges, this version features a polished brass finish. As with all Premier Single 4 door thresholds, it is suitable for thin carpets only and is also known as a Premier Trim Single or Single Naplock.

If you are fitting a standard thickness carpet, the manufacturer recommends choosing the Premier Single 9 instead.

How to Choose the Right Door Threshold

Choose the Premier Single 4 Polished Brass door threshold if you are joining thin stick-down carpet or natural sisal, up to 4mm thick, with floorboards or thin vinyl flooring.

The threshold is designed to lie flat, so both floor coverings should be level. If you are fitting a standard thickness carpet, the Premier Single 9 is the recommended alternative.

How to Install a Door Threshold Step-by-Step

Installing a Premier Single 4 door threshold is straightforward:

  1. Measure the doorway and cut the threshold to the required length using a sharp hacksaw.
  2. Position the threshold where the carpet meets the floorboards or vinyl flooring.
  3. Fix the threshold using a proprietary adhesive, nails or screws, avoiding areas with underfloor heating.
  4. Ensure the underlay stops short of the door threshold.
  5. Position the carpet so it is gripped under tension by the integrated teeth, with the adjoining floor covering sitting beneath the curved edge.
  6. Once fitted, use a carpeted wood block to 'nap down' the carpet for an extra firm grip on the pins and to reduce the carpet height further if required.
  7. Check the threshold sits flat and securely across the floor join.

How to Remove an Existing Door Threshold

  1. To remove an existing door threshold, first identify how it has been fixed in place.
  2. If secured with screws, carefully remove them using the correct screwdriver. If fixed with nails, gently lift the threshold using a claw hammer or pry bar.
  3. Release the carpet edge from the teeth before removing the threshold, taking care not to damage the carpet or surrounding flooring.
  4. Clear away any remaining fixings or debris before installing your new door threshold.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution.
