How The Premier Matwell Floating Works
Our floating matwells are designed to sit slightly raised above finished floor level while fixing securely into the recessed matwell itself.
The base of the matwell should be built up using plywood or similar material to achieve the correct finished depth for:
- 12mm ribbed matting
- 17mm coir matting
Each profile is supplied in straight lengths, allowing you to cut and mitre on site to create a frame in virtually any size or configuration required.
Fixing is achieved using a suitable non-expanding cartridge adhesive, making it ideal where underfloor heating may be present.

Each length of Premier Matwell Floating in Satin Brass is supplied as a straight length for on-site cutting and mitring, with an expansion allowance of 11mm, 15mm or 23mm. Lengths will need to be cut and mitred on-site to assemble the frames.
Installation & Fitting Tips
The Premier Matwell Floating profile is a technical installation and should ideally be cut and fitted by an experienced flooring professional during the floating floor installation.

Fitting Overview
- Lay the floating floor, leaving a recessed area for the mat.

- Fix in position using a non-expanding adhesive.
