The Premier Matwell Floating has been engineered to accommodate the natural expansion and contraction of floating floor coverings, including:

Allowing the correct expansion gap is essential to prevent buckling, lifting or movement over time. This profile creates a controlled expansion space between the floating floor and the Matwell frame, protecting the integrity of your flooring installation.
If your surrounding floor is non-floating (such as porcelain tiles or fully bonded wood), consider the Premier Lip or Matwell for Non-Floating Floors instead.

How The Premier Matwell Floating Works
This matwell surround is designed to sit slightly raised above the finished floor level, while fixing securely into the recessed matwell itself.
The matwell subfloor should be built up using plywood or similar material to achieve the correct depth for 12mm ribbed matting or 17mm coir matting. Each profile is supplied in straight lengths to be cut and mitred on site, allowing you to create a frame in virtually any size or configuration required. Please note that profiles are supplied in lengths rather than pre-assembled frames.

Installation & Fitting Tips
The Premier Matwell Floating is a technical installation and should ideally be fitted by an experienced flooring professional at the time of laying your floating floor.
Tools Required
- A mitre saw suitable for cutting metal
- Accurate measuring tools
- Non-expanding cartridge adhesive
- Plywood or suitable build-up material
Fitting Overview
- Lay the floating floor, leaving a recessed space for the mat.
- Calculate total external frame dimensions to determine required lengths.
- Build up the matwell base to the correct finished depth.
- Cut and mitre each length carefully for neat corner joints.
- Fix into position using a non-expanding adhesive.
- Fit the matting neatly into the completed recess.
