The Aluminium Double Z is a carpet threshold designed for joining carpet to carpet across doorways and room transitions. Also known as a Double Z9 or double naplock, it helps create a secure connection between adjoining carpets while maintaining a tidy appearance.
Suitable for quality carpets up to approximately 12mm thick, excluding underlay, the profile is designed for installations where both floor surfaces are level. Where slight differences in floor height occur, 3mm MDF strips can be positioned beneath the threshold. Easyshims can also be used where one carpet requires additional height to meet the pins.
Manufactured from aluminium, the Double Z is available in a selection of nine finishes and is supplied in 900mm and 1800mm lengths. The profile can also be adapted for joining carpet to hard flooring by removing one base section.

How to Install the Aluminium Double Z
Measure the doorway or flooring transition and cut the threshold to size using a hacksaw.
Position the threshold between the carpeted surfaces.
Secure the profile using a suitable adhesive, screws or nails.
Avoid fixing into areas where underfloor heating may be present.
Ensure the carpet underlay stops short of the threshold.
Stretch the carpets onto the pins.
If required, gently nap down the threshold using a carpeted wood block.
Napping down the profile can help provide a firmer grip on the carpet and may reduce the overall height by approximately 3mm.
